And ladies, I wouldn’t wear short skirts for climbing stairs. In the worst-case scenario, you won’t be able to visit the museum. I lined up in front of the door to see if I can buy the ticket. The staff at the ticket line told me to try to book online every morning. I even tried to book two tickets separately so the Big O and I can split up if that’s the only way.
Through the bookcase is the entrance hallway to the hideout. The room that belonged to the Frank family is to the left of here and the room that was occupied by the Pels is up the stairs. In this otherwise unassuming hallway landing the famous revolving bookcase hides the entrance the Anne’s secret hideout.
This is the haunting space that served as a deportation location for the Jews who were being transported out of Amsterdam by the Nazis. The Secret Annex was meant to be just that, secret, and so the entryway and stairs to get inside are wildly narrow. Nevertheless, it is critical to know your tickets are valid only for the reserved time slot.
